RED Mountain Historical Lodging: Authentic Cabins and Slopeside Value

RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, at the southern end of the Powder Highway, is a purist’s favourite. One of the oldest ski areas in North America, it keeps an uncrowded, old-school culture that has vanished from corporate mega-resorts. Two big peaks are packed with technical glades and steep bowls, and lift lines are famously short.
The lodging is different too. Instead of big condo towers, RED has independent heritage cabins, modern lofts and ski-in, ski-out chalets scattered through the woods near the base of the Motherlode chair. Value here means finding locally managed gems with lots of space and private amenities.
